Thanks for supporting French at Grant!
World language study is essential for all students. Not only does language study prepare our youth to compete in global markets and experience the world, but it makes them better students of English with a broader set of skills. Anything you can do to support language study at Grant and in Portland Public Schools will help the future of America keep up with the rest of the world. Don't hesitate to voice your support to building administration, the school district, and the community!
Here are some other ways you can help....
Projects:
*Support student study/travel abroad! Help build a scholarship fund for Grant students to expand their experience of the world during high
school. We have 2 upcoming adventures in Summer 2016 and Summer 2017!
See our GoFundMepage: https://www.gofundme.com/granthsfrench15-16
*Help keep our subscription to the News in Slow French ($130/year). World news stories presented at varying speeds of French, making
them accessible to a wide range of students, with supplemental vocabulary and grammar lessons. A great way for students to hear different
French speakers, improve listening comprehension, and stay engaged with world events!
Please donate to the French account in the school bookkeeper's office!
*Help us build a language lab! We need 25 computers to use with the headset/microphones purchased for us by the PTA! There are very few
computer labs at Grant and we cannot often use them due to high demand and needs for testing and computer/technology courses. We know
this is a big request and that we will have to start small and build over time. If you have access to any resources and/or have ideas, please
contact me directly ([email protected]). We need your support to make curriculum that will not only nurture global citizens but 21st century learners!
